It’s Choughin’ Wonderful – help us celebrate 20 years
Whether you are involved in a local group, sports team, school, business or organisation or as an individual, we’d love you to join us in celebrating this fantastic milestone for choughs and for Cornwall.
Cornish Chough Conservation Network
As well as hosting some celebratory events through the summer into September (events programme coming soon), The Cornish Chough Conservation Network are inviting everyone with an interest in choughs, nature, local heritage or Cornwall to celebrate - perhaps you’d like to hold a chough themed event with your local group; create a chough display at school or work or put a chough picture in your window at home; maybe you can dress in red & black for the day or make some chough-themed tray bakes at home. However you want to celebrate please join us by sharing your celebrations on your social media #CornishChoughs20
Why celebrate: It’s taken time and lots of effort from Cornwall’s farmers, local volunteers, supporters and conservation organisations to help this bird bounce back naturally in the Duchy. Choughs were extinct in Cornwall from 1973 and returned naturally in 2001, breeding successfully the year after. We know how important choughs are to Cornwall – they are a charismatic bird, closely linked to our local heritage, featuring on our coat of arms and they are a flagship species for partnership conservation work - they also bring so much joy to those that take the time to watch them; so let’s celebrate the choughs success and at the same time say thank you to everyone who has played their part in helping the choughs reach this fantastic milestone.
